Boy dies after car wreck
A four-year-old boy has died from injuries in wreck with motorcycle

HUMBLE, TX -- A 4-year-old child is dead and a motorcyclist is fighting for his life after both were injured in a major wreck in Humble.

The accident happened on FM 1960 at Moonshine Hill shortly before 2 p.m. Monday. A Ford Expedition was struck on the passenger side by a motorcycle. Witnesses at the scene say the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed.

Sgt. Mike Harvey with the Harris County Sheriff's Office says witnesses say the motorcyclist was sent flying into the family's SUV, and his helmet struck the 4-year-old.

The little boy was in the rear seat in a child safety seat. Witnesses reportedly removed the boy's seat from the SUV, while he was still strapped in.

The boy was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, and then transferred to Memorial Hermann Hospital by Life Flight. The motorcyclist was also taken to Memorial Hermann by Life Flight. The boy died Tuesday.

Witnesses report two other children were in the SUV, but they were not seriously injured. The children's mother was driving.

"Anytime you hear of a baby getting hurt is just really depressing it hard to look at and watch," said Bethany Mcdaris.

McDaris lives next door to the family that was inside the white Expedition. When she heard about the crash, she was in shock to learn it was her neighbor's involved.

"It's always harder when you know them," she said.

McDaris says the family is quiet and the children love to play outside.

"It's horrible because they had three kids back-to-back all within three years," she said.

Those who know the family are still in shock, sending up prayers.

"They will remember this for the rest of their lives," added McDaris.

No word on whether any charges will be filed in this wreck.
