CHICAGO (WLS) -- The CTA will start testing prepaid fares Monday along a popular bus route.

Pay stations are being installed at the Belmont Blue Line stop, where many passengers transfer to the No. 77 Belmont bus.

Starting Monday, riders can pay their fares before they get on westbound buses during the evening rush. The plan aims to increase speed and efficiency.

The test is scheduled to run six months and could be expanded, depending on how it goes.
