CHICAGO (WLS) -- Disabled veterans in Cook County will soon get a chance to learn more about property tax exemptions - the Cook County Assessor's office will hold six seminars in February.
Earlier this month, Vietnam vet Jim Zwit was worried he wouldn't be able to get the exemption he was entitled to under the law. Vets who are 70-100 percent disabled no longer have to pay property taxes in Illinois, and other disabled vets may qualify for reductions.
Right now, all disabled vets must apply for the exemptions, and those applications are due March 2. To learn more about the process and applications, Cook County will hold six seminars in February.
