SALEM, Wis. (WLS) -- Authorities have recovered the body of John Spoor, a 66-year-old missing boater from McHenry County who failed to come home from a fishing trip on Silver Lake in Wisconsin, officials said.
Crews checked shoreline areas, using sonar as well as cadaver dogs, officials said. Kenosha County sheriff's officials began searching Tuesday using a thermal imaging camera and found the man's boat, but there was no sign of the man. His body was found at 8:24 a.m. Friday in about seven feet of water.
The area was searched by crews all day Wednesday with a helicopter, but they were unable to locate anything below the surface or along the shoreline of the lake, officials said.
Kenosha County sheriff's detectives said they will continue to investigate the circumstances of Spoor's death, but an initial overview shows no signs of foul play. An autopsy will be scheduled by the Kenosha County Medical Examiner's Office.
