Driver crashes into Dolton gas station

DOLTON, Ill. (WLS) -- A driver lost control and knocked out a support beam at a Shell gas station in south suburban Dolton, and then crashed into a gas pump.

The station's canopy toppled over.

Fire officials say the man got out of his car and ran away from the scene. Police captured him in a nearby store parking lot.

He was treated at a nearby hospital.

No word yet if police were pursuing the man before he crashed.
