Jesse Kazmierski charged with murder in death of Elmer Brown, retired CPD sergeant

HAMMOND, Ind. (WLS) -- Charges were filed Thursday in the shooting death of a retired Chicago police sergeant.

Jesse Kazmierski, 18, of Hammond, Ind., was charged with first degree murder and home invasion.

Elmer Brown, 73, was shot to death during a robbery in his home in the East Side community in March.

Prosecutors say he was killed despite showing three home invaders where his safe was. The other two suspects have not been charged.
