HAMMOND, Ind. (WLS) -- A judge denied a former Hammond, Ind. pastor's request to get reduced jail time for having sex with a teenager.

Jack Schaap is currently serving a 12-year sentence after pleading guilty to bringing a girl to Illinois and Michigan for sex.

Schaap claims he had a bad lawyer and his sentence should be tossed out.

Schaap was the pastor of the First Baptist Church for 11 years when he was fired in 2012.
