CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Teacher's Union released a statement on Monday confirming that President Karen Lewis was hospitalized Sunday evening, but said she did not suffer a stroke.
"Karen is being evaluated in a local hospital after experiencing discomfort," union spokeswoman Stephanie Gadlin said in the statement. "Contrary to media inquiries based on a tip from an anonymous source, she has not suffered a stroke."
"She'll be back on her feet in no time," Gadlin continued. "She is resting well and in good spirits."
Mayor Rahm Emanuel's office issued a statement saying that he wishes her well.
