CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 21-year-old man was gunned down in a carjacking in the 2300 block of 80th Street on the South Side.

Chicago police said the man was sitting in his black Ford Expedition around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Ashburn neighborhood, when two people approached his vehicle.

Police said the victim was shot in the chest. Neighbors who heard the gunshot said it fired only once.

Two suspects drove off in the SUV, according to police.

The victim was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner has not yet released the 21-year-old's name.

Those who live on this street said this is a quiet neighborhood and the victim is not from the area.

"I'm totally caught off guard," Ashuburn resident Sylvester Holloway said. "I have no words that can explain how I feel in regards to this."

Area Central police are searching for the suspects, but have not yet release a description of who they are looking for.
