Geno Paget charged in Ashburn fatal shooting, carjacking

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Geno Paget, 31, was charged in the shooting death of a 21-year-old man in Chicago's Ashburn neighborhood. He is also accused of fleeing the scene in the victim's vehicle.

The victim was sitting in his black Ford Expedition around 10:30 p.m. on May 27 in the 2300-block of West 80th Street when two people approached his vehicle. Police said the 21-year-old man was shot in the chest and the two suspects drove off in the SUV.

The victim was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.

Paget, of the 5700-block of South Damen Street, was arrested after he was identified as one of the offenders. He was charged with two felony counts of murder, armed robbery and aggravated vehicular hijacking. He is due in bond court on Wednesday.

Police are still searching for the second suspect.
