Officials say a man turned himself in to police after an attempted sexual assault near the UIC- Halsted Blue Line stop.

Leverne Burnette, 21, has been charged in connection with an attempted sex assault that happened May 20 near a CTA Blue Line stop in the West Loop.

Police had been questioning a man who turned himself in after a CTA surveillance camera captured pictures of the suspect.

A 19-year-old woman said the man allegedly followed her off a Blue Line train at the UIC-Halsted station. He then allegedly tried to assault her in the 900 block of West Van Buren, but she was able to get away.

Burnette is charged with felony aggravated battery and attempted sexual assault.

Cook County Judge Maria Kuriakos-Ciesil set bond for Burnette at $300,000 on Saturday.
