Man killed in possible road rage shooting in Avalon Park

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are investigating whether road rage led to the shooting death of a 54-year-old man in the Avalon Park neighborhood Wednesday.

The shooting happened while the man was driving in the 8400-block of South Stony Island Avenue around 2:30 p.m. when he heard shots and felt pain, police said. After being shot he crashed into another vehicle.

The man was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Ill., in critical condition, where he later died. His identity has not been released. No one is in custody. Area South Detectives are investigating the shooting.
