CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man in his 30s was shot and wounded Monday night in the city's Lake View neighborhood, officials said.
Shortly before 9 p.m., the man was shot in an alley behind a gas station in the 3200-block of North Racine Avenue.
The man was transported in critical condition to Illinois Masonic Hospital.
Witness Nicholas Notorangelo said he saw the victim, wearing flip-flips and carrying a bottle of blue Gatorade, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his neck.
"I said, 'Don't die. You're going to be OK,'" Notorangelo said.
No one was in custody Monday night. Police are investigating and trying to determine a motive.
