CHICAGO (WLS) -- FAA officials are investigating a close call between two airplanes at a runway intersection at Midway Airport.

Around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, officials say Southwest Airlines Flight 3828 was cleared for takeoff on the airport's center runway. As the plane began to roll, an air traffic controller noticed that Delta Air Lines Flight 1328 also began rolling on the right runway without permission, officials said.

The Delta flight was ordered to stop and the Southwest flight also chose to stop, officials said. Both were about 2,000 feet from the runway intersection.

Both flights eventually continued on to their destinations.
