Military Mondays: USO of Illinois

CHICAGO (WLS) -- May is Military Appreciation Month. ABC7 Eyewitness News is saluting our American heroes each Monday in May.

Alison Ruble, President and CEO of the United Service Organizations of Illinois, explained how the non-profit supports troops and how viewers can get involved.

USO of Illinois is dedicated to being the bridge between the military and civilian communities through volunteer experiences.

The organization served 330,000 military and military dependents in 2014. It relies on more than 660 active volunteers who annually donate enough hours to equal more than $1,060,000 of service.
