CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago's new Oak Street Health Facility opened Friday, offering new jobs and more coverage for people on the city's West Side.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel helped cut the ribbon at the facility in the city's Ashburn neighborhood. It is the third neighborhood medical center the company runs.
"We offer longer appointments, ride service to and from appointments, dental and pharmacy services," said Oak Street Health CEO Mike Pykosz. "So seniors have access to services they need."
The state-of-the-art facility will employ 35 full- time positions and provide services to people who are eligible for Medicare.
With the mayor on-hand, there was a protest at the health center against Thursday's announcement of cuts in the CPS system.
