CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago Police officers shot and killed a pit bull Sunday after they say the dog attacked a girl on the city's Northwest Side.

The dog reportedly bit a 12-year-old girl on both of her arms in the 4900-block of North Troy in the Albany Park neighborhood.

When police got there they opened fire on the pit bull. It is unclear what led to the shooting.

The girl was taken to a hospital. There is no word on her condition.
