Orland Park firefighter killed in single-vehicle crash

ORLAND PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- A veteran firefighter from suburban Orland Park was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Sunday morning.

Wes Peak, 36, was with the Orland Fire Protection District for seven years. He was killed on I-57 while on his way to work.

"He touched so many lives in a positive way," said Orland Fire Protection District Chief Ken Brucki. "It is equally heartbreaking to the organization as it is on his family."

The accident is still under investigation.
