CHICAGO (WLS) -- More than 100 protesters swarmed downtown Chicago for hours on Saturday, starting at the Taste of Chicago, moving to Water Tower Place and then into the South Loop.
At 10 p.m., the gathering became chaotic when several people were put into handcuffs near South Michigan Avenue and Roosevelt Road. At one point, several bottles were thrown at police officers on horses.

Most of the day's march throughout the city was peaceful with chants of "No justice, no peace" and "Hands up, don't shoot." As the group moved south from the Loop into the South Loop, marchers attempted to make their way to either the expressway or Lake Shore Drive via Roosevelt Road. However, police officers cordoned them off, keeping them in the South Loop and marching from State Street to roughly 13th Street to Indiana Avenue and then back onto Roosevelt where the clash with police officers occurred.
At about 5 p.m., the group started by gathering at the entrance of the Taste of Chicago Saturday evening in hopes of shutting down the festival and bringing attention to recent cases of police brutality.
Some protesters were just inside the gates of the food and music festival chanting "This is our city. These are our streets." Festival rules prohibit signs from being brought into the Grant Park event, so the majority of the group remains just outside the entrance gates.
At about 7 p.m., a large group moved north on Michigan Avenue and then gathered outside the Water Tower Place in the Gold Coast.
According to Chicago police, three people were arrested during the protests.
Protesters say there is no police accountability, citing the police killings of Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota this week.
