VALPARAISO, Ind. (WLS) -- A 13-year-old student was approached by a man in a van near a school bus stop in Valparaiso, according to police.
The girl was walking to a bus stop in Beauty Creek Subdivision around 7:15 a.m. Thursday when a man pulled up in a white van. Police said the man tried to start a conversation with her and asked, "Do you want a lift?"
The student declined and kept walking. Police said the man in the van drove out of the area in an unknown direction.
Valparaiso police are investigating.
The release describes the suspect as a white or Hispanic male with a dark goatee driving a white van.
