CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police have released surveillance photos of a man they say sexually assaulted a woman on a CTA Blue Line train Monday.

Police say the 41-year-old victim boarded an eastbound Blue Line train at Oak Park Avenue around 3 p.m. Monday. Shortly thereafter, police say she was attacked from behind by a man who had boarded in Forest Park, where the train originates.

"She sat down and the offender attacked her from behind. He knocked her down to the ground and attacked her," said Det. Jackie Mok, Chicago Police Dept.

Police say the man sexually assaulted her and then stole her iPhone. Police say he got off the train at Cicero and then boarded a westbound Blue Line train back toward Austin Blvd.

"The victim was alone at the time of the incident, there were no other persons in the compartment," Det. Mok said.

Police describe the man as a black male, wearing a grey and blue Columbia jacket, blue jeans and gym shoes with green laces.
