Victim's family raises reward money for information in North Kenwood shooting

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The family of a woman shot in the face over the weekend is raising money through social media to find the shooter. Michelle Pearson's family is offering $2,500 for information in the case.

Pearson, 20, was shot in the face at 3 a.m. Saturday in the 4600-block of South Ellis in North Kenwood.

"She's fighting for her life and may never be the same," said Raynetta Tyler, Pearson's aunt. Relatives say Pearson is on life-support and is unresponsive at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Pearson and a 21-year-old male were dropping someone off early Saturday morning when they were shot. The male victim was shot in the leg and chest. He's also hospitalized at Northwestern.

"She didn't deserve it," said Tyler. "She was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Pearson has a 4-year-old son, Antonio Poore. Relatives said he's asking a lot of questions.

"He asked me, 'Why did they do that to my mommy, what did she do to them?'" said Masheika Pearson, the victim's sister.

For the past year, Pearson has worked full time at a White Castle in Gage Park. Co-workers say providing for her son has been her motivation for working hard.

"She's a valuable team member and our thoughts and prayers go out to her family," said Darrin Cotton.

Four years ago, one of Michelle Pearson's cousins was shot and killed.
