NEW ORLEANS, LA -- Coast Guard video shows a stunning rescue that happened Saturday when an ill woman was lifted from a cruise ship onto a helicopter.
The crew safely hoisted a 48-year-old woman from the ship's deck and flew her to safety and medical attention ashore.
The Coast Guard says the woman was suffering from kidney issues aboard the cruise ship Carnival Dream 23 miles south of Southwest Pass on the Mississippi River. At the time the video was taken, the woman was unconscious with a high blood sugar level.
The Coast Guard flew the woman to Ochsner Baptist Medical Center in New Orleans for treatment. The Coast Guard says the woman is in stable condition.
