CHICAGO (WLS) -- A recent high school graduate was killed and two other teens were injured in a shooting in the Austin neighborhood on Chicago's West Side.

Chicago police said the three males - ages 18, 17, and 13 - were shot in the 4900-block of West End Avenue around 11:10 a.m. Tuesday.

"I saw one guy land in the middle of the street on West End. And there was another one on Lavergne laying out. And there was a little kid laid in the grass, had been shot in the leg," witness Renee Johnson said.

Keon Boyd, 18, was shot in the chest. He was later pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital. The 13-year-old and 17-year-old remain hospitalized.

Witnesses said five men were seen running out of an alley before opening fire on the victims, one of whom was riding a bicycle. Evidence markers counted at least 15 bullets along the sidewalk.

"I mean, everybody know what's going on. It's retaliation. People trying to retaliate. Somebody killed somebody's brother or somebody's friend. And it needs to end," said Ken Elders, a neighborhood resident.

Police have not released a motive in the shooting. Earlier this month, a 59-year-old man was killed in the same block. Three men were stabbed nearby just last week.

"The violence in Chicago will not stop until African-American men step up and address their own people. The police cannot stop killings in the African-American community," said Tio Hardiman, president of Violence Interrupters.

Residents in the neighborhood - many of whom would not speak on camera for fear of being the victim of another shooting - said they are trying to do what's right and protect their children.

"Keep your children in the house, if you don't have anyone to watch them, send them to day camp, summer camp, or something," Johnson said.

Police have not offered a description of the shooters. No one is in custody.
