CHICAGO (WLS) -- Some Chicago tenants are being forced out of their homes because their landlord has been slapped with dozens of building code violations.

The tenants live in a building near 70th and Claremont on the city's South Side. They complained to the city about the lack of heat, but when inspectors showed up they found 61 code violations - and things got worse.

"You wake up cold. You don't wanna move, you can't cook 'cause everything's electric," said tenant Will Porch.

The city is working to help the residents find other places to stay. Eyewitness News was unable to reach the landlord for comment.
