CHICAGO (WLS) -- Uber has added a new safety checklist to their smartphone app in response to sexual assault accusations against two of its drivers.

Under the app change, a driver photo and license plate number are displayed for users in Chicago and Boston, where Uber drivers were charged with rape.

A message urges customers to verify that the photo and license match their driver. The app change was implemented in time for New Year's Eve.

A Chicago Uber driver was charged with sexually assaulting an intoxicated customer in November. A Boston driver is accused in a similar case.
