Urban Prep Academy teacher arrested over alleged misconduct

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A teacher at Urban Prep Academy's West Campus was arrested on Thursday for allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a student.

The 29-year-old female teacher was placed on administrative leave from all school-related responsibilities, according to officials at the school. She is currently being questioned.

School officials issued a statement saying, "Our number one priority is, and always will be, the welfare, safety and education of our students." The statement also said Urban Prep hired an independent investigator to conduct an internal investigation into the issue.

So far no charges have been filed.

The investigation is ongoing.
