WCPO reports that northern Kentucky cop Darryl Jouett entered an elevator at the Mercer Commons Parking Garage in Over-The-Rhine, Cincinnati around 8:30 p.m. on Friday after having dinner with his wife.

Once the elevator doors close, Jouett pulls out his .40 caliber semiautomatic handgun from it's holster, looking as if he's trying to re-holster it. However, the officer almost drops his weapon as it becomes tangled within his coat, and the gun fires as Jouett attempts to catch it.

A bullet ricocheted from the gun and struck Jouett in his stomach. Jouett's wife pulls out her cell phone to call 911 after her husband fell to the floor. Jouett then is able to stand up and exit the elevator, as another patron comes to his aide.

According to WCPO, Jouett was conscious and alert when medical officials and Cincinnati police arrived on seen. Jouett was then transported University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Check out the incredible footage above.
