Woman seriously injured in Niles hit-and-run

NILES, Ill. (WLS) -- The Niles Police Department is investigating a hit and run that happened Wednesday in northwest suburban Niles.

Police said a woman was struck by a black Jeep Patriot in the 9600-block of Greenwood Avenue at about 10:20 p.m. The car had tinted windows and Illinois license plates.

The Jeep continued driving northbound on Greenwood Avenue past Milwaukee Avenue after striking the woman. Witnesses said the Jeep never slowed down.

The victim was transported to Lutheran General Hospital after she sustained serious injuries.
