MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WLS) -- A man who thought he spotted a lion on Milwaukee's North Side shot and injured a large pit bull.
Police said the dog is being cared for at the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC). The pit bull was shot in the right front leg Wednesday night.
"Obviously, the person who shot this dog thought they saw a lion and people tend to may be amped up or afraid," Karen Sparapani, MADACC executive director, said.
Milwaukee police say they have investigated about two dozen calls of apparent lion sightings. No animal has been found.
