WASHINGTON (WLS) -- The latest poll numbers show Donald Trump losing support to Hillary Clinton in critical battleground states as the two rivals are turning out a full arsenal of attacks.

The campaign arrows were flying with neither Clinton nor Trump holding anything back.

At a meeting with nearly 1,000 evangelical leaders, Trump even suggested that his rival is not worthy of their prayers.

"For one specific person and again we can't be politically correct and say we pray for all of our leaders because all of your leaders are selling Christianity down the tubes, selling the evangelicals down the tubes," Trump said.

In a speech about the economy, Clinton argued that despite his business experience, Trump cannot be trusted with the nation's finances.

"He's written a lot of books about business, they all seem to end at Chapter 11," Clinton said.

Trump posted an Instagram video in response.

"Hillary Clinton is only right about one thing: I understand debt and how to handle it," Trump said. "I made a fortune with debt but debt for this country is a disaster and Obama has piled it on and she's been there watching."

Trump went even further in a barrage of tweets, evoking the memory of ambassador Chris Stevens, who was killed in Benghazi and accusing her of making money off of the enslavement of women and murder of gays to the benefit of the Clinton Foundation.

Clinton continued her warning that Trump would be dangerous for America.

"Just like he shouldn't have his finger on the button, he shouldn't have his hands on our economy," she said.

Trump is promising even more Wednesday with a full assault on Clinton to come in a planned speech.
