New poll shows Trump edging Clinton by 2 points

NEW YORK (WLS) -- Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton are both taking their campaigns to key swing states on Tuesday.

Trump is visiting North Carolina and Virginia, while Clinton is in Florida. They're going there with knowledge of new polling that shows Trump edging Clinton by 2 points among likely voters.

In the CNN/ORC poll, Trump has 45 percent and Clinton stands at 43 percent. Libertarian Gary Johnson stands at 7 percent and the Green Party's Jill Stein has 2 percent.

Both the Democratic and Republican nominees sat down for an exclusive interview with ABC's David Muir. The candidates have settled into attack mode as the November election approaches.

MUIR: You often talk about Hillary Clinton's stamina.

TRUMP: Right.

MUIR: You've even said she doesn't look presidential.

TRUMP: I really do believe that, yes.

But what does that mean? It doesn't matter to Clinton running-mate Tim Kaine.

"Well, can I, just...Does she look presidential, fellas? That's an idiotic comment," Kaine said.

Trump didn't elaborate and opted instead to change the subject to what he's good at.

"The single greatest asset I have, according to those who know me, is my temperament," Trump said.

Clinton disagrees, redirecting the conversation to Trump's recent visit to Mexico. She calls the trip a failure, given Trump's longstanding refrain about building a wall, and making the Mexican government pay for it.

"What happened is what we call a diplomatic incident, because he came out saying one thing and the Mexican president came out and contradicted him, almost immediately," Clinton said.

In fact, she said Trump choked.

"So, let me just tell you about choking. I don't choke. Look at the deals she's made. She's responsible for so many bad things that have happened to our country, including the signing by her husband of NAFTA, which is has drained our country of its jobs," Trump said.

Clinton said her priorities are exactly as they should be.

MUIR: I'm curious, when a voter is asked what Hillary Clinton stands for, with 63 days to go, what do you hope they'll say?

CLINTON: I hope what they'll say is that I stand for the kind of future that will help them and their families. We want to get the economy to work for everyone not just those at the top.

Trump has been criticized for not yet releasing his tax return. He told David Muir the only one who cares about his tax returns are the press and that he thinks that voters are indifferent on that subject.
