CHICAGO (WLS) -- It's been nearly two years since Bruce Rauner was sworn in as governor of Illinois. In those two years, there has been a lot of gridlock between the Republican governor and the Democratic-controlled General Assembly.
There is no state budget, not turnaround plan as the governor has called for and a temporary measure expires at the end of the year.
As we approach the end of the year, a homeless shelter in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood says it will close without a deal. There is talk that the state could miss out on infrastructure money under the incoming Trump administration and colleges and universities are looking at operating without state funding.
