Newsviews: Gov. Bruce Rauner

Governor Bruce Rauner talks with ABC7 about the state budget impasse. (WLS)

It's been nearly two years since Bruce Rauner was sworn in as governor of Illinois. In those two years, there has been a lot of gridlock between the Republican governor and the Democratic-controlled General Assembly.

There is no state budget, not turnaround plan as the governor has called for and a temporary measure expires at the end of the year.

As we approach the end of the year, a homeless shelter in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood says it will close without a deal. There is talk that the state could miss out on infrastructure money under the incoming Trump administration and colleges and universities are looking at operating without state funding.
