BURBANK, Ill. (WLS) -- Governor Pat Quinn announced two water-related projects in Chicago's south suburbs on Saturday.
Up to $10 million from the 'Illinois Jobs Now' program will expand the Melvina Ditch Reservoir in Burbank. The reservoir diverts storm water from nearby homes, but this year it has overflowed three times.
According to the governor's office, an expansion will prevent homes and streets from flooding.
"We understand the ravages of floods and how that can really harm a homeowner and a whole neighborhood," Quinn said.
The governor also announced money for a project in Stickney to curb water pollution.
