Rauner on term limits redistricting
Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner joined ABC7 News This Morning to discuss current battles he's waging, including term limits and redistricting.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Governor Bruce Rauner faces plenty of challenges as Illinois' leader. He joined ABC7 News This Morning to discuss current battles he's waging, including term limits and redistricting.

The Republican governor said it is important for constituents to tell their representatives to get term limits and redistricting reform on the ballot so that they have a say during the next vote.

He also discussed the state's financial crisis. For more than a year, Illinois has been without a state budget. Communities in the Chicago area have felt the impact.

A coalition representing 850 non-profit organizations in Illinois just released an interactive "heat map" online, which shows how much their budgets have been cut in the last year. Chicago's Chatham neighborhood has seen an 82 percent cut, Leyden Township has seen a 69 percent cut, Proviso Township has seen a 58 percent cut and DuPage County has seen a 45 percent cut, to name a few.

Rauner spoke on whether the state has done and adequate review of the social and economic consequences of the budget crisis and what can be in the state legislature to find a compromise on the budget.
