Update to ABC7 investigation of debate leak

CHICAGO (WLS) -- There's an update to our investigation of how potential questions for our debate in the race for Chicago mayor were leaked to one of the campaigns.

Last week we told you about the investigation. Someone had leaked potential questions for our February fifth mayoral debate to the campaign of Jesus "Chuy" Garcia. After the Garcia campaign made us aware of the leak, the debate partners, ABC7, The Leagues of Women Voters of Illinois and Chicago, and Univision Chicago released the same potential questions to the campaigns of all candidates, in an effort to maintain the fairness of the debate.

We have concluded our investigation. The ABC7 freelance employee responsible for the leak was relieved of their debate duties prior to the debate and has subsequently resigned from ABC 7.
