CHICAGO (WLS) -- An outgoing 7-year-old boy suited up in his very own pilot's uniform Wednesday for a new adventure that will he will never forget.
Captain William is the newest member of the flying team for American Airlines, fulfilling his dream of being a pilot.
The fun was compliments of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. William was diagnosed with a heart defect at birth. He loves airplanes and flying.
William was escorted through the airport by Cpt. Chip Long and he enjoyed everything from VIP treatment around the airport to getting his wings and a pin for service along with a tour of the operations.
"It's kinda cool, going to Dallas, getting my wings. It's going to be fun," William said.
Once William arrived in Dallas, he received some special training and even got to try out the flight simulator. His night also included an exclusive dinner with the captain and his family.
Make-A-Wish has granted more than 250,000 wishes since 1980.
