CHICAGO (WLS) -- More than 45,000 runners are expected to take part in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Oct. 11.
The grueling 26.2-mile race weaves through many Chicago neighborhoods. This year, footwear company Saucony partnered with Competitor Magazine to train 13 first-time marathoners to finish the race. This is the third consecutive year of the Saucony 26 Strong Project.
In 2013, the goal marathon was one selected by each of the individual teams. In 2014, the Honolulu Marathon in Honolulu, Hawaii, was the selected race venue for all of the teams. This year, marathon cadets and their coaches will run the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
Erin Ream from Competitor Group and Angela Bekkala, a running coach for Saucony 26 Strong, joined ABC7 Eyewitness News live from the marathon route in Lincoln Park.
