Twenty University of Illinois students, many from the suburbs, began an "epic journey" two weeks ago. They're biking 4,000 miles from New York City to San Francisco, in 63 days of riding and eight days of rest.

The students will be stopping at hospitals and documenting stories of cancer experiences -- all part of an effort to raise awareness and money to battle the disease. The students are part of the Illini 4000, which has raised more than $650,000 since its founding in 2007.
