Muslim girl from Oak Brook writes letter to Donald Trump

OAK BROOK, Ill. (WLS) -- Some Muslim Americans have condemned what they call the hate-filled rhetoric from Donald Trump during his campaign, so a 9-year-old Muslim girl from Oak Brook has written him a letter with a simple message.

Sakeena Ahmed said her only wish for Trump is that he be good. The fourth grader asked him to imagine if everybody hated your religion.

"Being Muslim is a little difficult, my mom wears a scarf around her head. I go to the store and people just look at me," she said.

In the letter, she writes to Trump: "You are saying we are terrorists. We definitely don't do anything that you say we do. My dad is a doctor."

"My only wish is for you to be good and I hope this letter does make you good," Sakeena wrote.

In the letter she also talks about what a 9-year-old cousin overheard her soccer teammates saying: "It's okay girls, she's just not our kind."

Sakeena's mother encouraged her to write the letter. Aamina Ahmed said she's worried after the election.

"It's his supporters that I'm more concerned about. There's extra security at my kids' school today," she said.

During the campaign Trump promised to prevent Muslims from entering the U.S. and increase scrutiny on those already living in the country. In the Muslim community there are fears of violence.

"We have already instructed our mosques to beef up security, make sure their security cameras are working, have volunteers that can look around and monitor for suspicious behavior," said Ahmed Rehab, CAIR Chicago.
