CHICAGO (WLS) -- Mayor Rahm Emanuel helped break ground for a new nature preserve and trail on the city's North Side.

The West Ridge Nature Preserve at Western and Bryn Mawr will have fishing stations, wildlife viewing and a trail around the park.

The city is working with the Chicago Ornithological Society to ensure wildlife on the 20-acre area is protected and their habitat not disturbed.

The city purchased the land from Rosehill Cemetery in 2011.
