Irazu
Chicago boasts all types of international cuisine...so, its surprising that only one Costa Rican restaurant serves up specialties from that Central American country. Irazu in Bucktown is the ultimate 'American Dream'. Geraldo & Miriam Cerdas came to the states in order to have a better life. Miriam worked in a cafeteria, but loved to cook and wanted to be her own boss. They scraped together enough to buy a tiny space... and Irazu was born, 26 years ago. It's now in the capable hands of one of their sons, Henry, who's expanded and modernized the Bucktown favorite.

National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture

Nearly two decades ago, the historic Humboldt Park 'stables' were on the verge of being converted into office space, that is, until a group of community members stepped in with a plan. Now, this century-old horse stable is the nation's only free-standing museum devoted to preserving the rich history of Puerto Rican culture.
