Bastian Schweinsteiger is preparing for his move to Chicago Fire by training at RCD Mallorca as he waits for his visa.

Schweinsteiger, 32, posted a thank you message to Spanish Segunda Division side Mallorca on his official Twitter account after they offered him the chance to use their facilities while he awaits clearance to complete his move.

"Thanks for the possibility to have some training sessions on your facilities until I get my visa for the US, RCD Mallorca," Schweinsteiger said.

The Bayern Munich legend signed for Chicago Fire last week, and on Friday completed his medical at Germany team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt's offices in Munich. Sky Germany reported that the tests lasted four hours.

"We plan to unveil Bastian at a news conference on Wednesday," Chicago Fire media director Frank Stranzl told Sport Bildat the weekend. The German outlet reported Schweinsteiger will wear No. 31 and could make his MLS debut as early as April 1 in the home game against Montreal Impact.

"We're told his excitement may be contagious," Fire said on Twitter.

Schweinsteiger is set to be the second German to wear the Chicago Fire jersey, following in the footsteps of former Germany defender Arne Friedrich, 37, who played there in 2012 and 2013.
