The NHL has fined Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw $2,000 on Friday for taking a dive during a game last month against the Los Angeles Kings.

Shaw, who had already been warned for an incident during a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Nov. 11, was fined for a play against the Kingson March 30.

Shaw, who was knocked into the end boards by Mike Richards, fell to the ice at 5:24 of the first period and drew a delayed penalty on the play. It was nullified when the Blackhawks scored seven seconds later.

The rule was revised for this season and is designed to more seriously penalize players and teams if they repeatedly attempt to draw penalties.

Shaw will receive heavier fines if he is deemed to dive/embellish in the future. A third citation would cost him $3,000, a fourth $4,000 and $5,000 from there on.
