ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toewssat out his first game of the season with an upper-body injury.
Toews was a scratch for the Blackhawks' traditional Black Friday visit to the Anaheim Ducks, a 3-2 victory.
Toews was hurt during Chicago's game at San Jose on Wednesday. He also will sit out the Blackhawks' visit to Los Angeles on Saturday.
The three-time Stanley Cup champion has four goals and eight assists this season.
Rookie Vincent Hinostroza took Toews' spot in the lineup, centering a line with Marian Hossa and Ryan Hartman.
