Chicago Blackhawks backup goaltender Scott Darling is expected to miss three weeks because of an upper-body injury, coach Joel Quenneville said after Friday's 2-1 shootout win over theNew York Islanders.
Darling was hurt at the end of Friday's morning skate, Quenneville said.
The Blackhawks recalled Jeff Glass to serve as starter Corey Crawford's backup. Glass, 31, has a 2.62 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 13 games with Rockford of the American Hockey League.
Chicago pulled to within one point of Western Conference-leading Minnesota despite playing without center Artem Anisimov and rookie forward Nick Schmaltz on Friday.
Anisimov was shelved by a lower-body injury, and Schmaltz was scratched because of an illness. Blackhawks defensemen Niklas Hjalmarsson and Johnny Oduya also are out because of injuries.
