PHILADELPHIA -- Chicago Bulls point guard Rajon Rondo sat out Thursday night's 102-90 win against the Philadelphia 76ers because of a sprained right wrist.

Rondo, who injured the wrist in Tuesday's loss to the New York Knicks, had an MRI on Wednesday that confirmed the sprain. He did not participate in Thursday's shootaround and it is unclear when he will be able to return.

"It's a ligament that's kind of not in the right place right now," Rondo said of his diagnosis. "It's causing [the wrist] to pop a little bit. ... It hurts. It's painful. It's my dominant hand, so [I'll] just take it a day at a time."

Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said that for the time being, Rondo is considered day-to-day.

"A lot of it's based on feel," Hoiberg said. "With Rajon, obviously, the way he's got the ball in his hands flinging passes, there's still some soreness with all those movements. So all we know right now is he's out. He's got some soreness, but he does feel a little bit better than he did [Wednesday]."

Second-year playerJerian Grantstarted in Rondo's place, scoring 15 points in 31 minutes. Michael Carter-Williams had been getting the bulk of the minutes off the bench over the past month behind Rondo, but Hoiberg said before the game that he was hopeful Grant can rely on his experience as a starter and that Carter-Williams would continue to come off the bench.

"Jerian's had experience in the starting lineup," Hoiberg said. "He's started 25 games for us. Just put a shooter out there with Jimmy [Butler], that's the reason we went with Jerian."

In other injury-related news, Bulls guard Dwyane Wade did not participate in Thursday's shootaround. Wade went through Wednesday's scrimmage; Hoiberg is hopeful that Wade will be able to practice again Friday and left open the possibility that he will play Saturday against the Brooklyn Nets.

Wade was initially ruled out for the regular season because of a fractured right elbow suffered in a March 15 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. He has made solid progress in his rehab over the past few weeks.

"Feels good. He's sore," Hoiberg said. "He's got a recovery day today. It kind of was the plan going into this to have a good, hard practice [Wednesday] and then recover today. He's got soreness, obviously, with his first full practice [since the injury]. Just general soreness. More in his legs than in his elbow. Just had a good hard practice and [we'll] see how he progresses."
