Danny Manning visits Wake Forest

Danny Manning is visiting the Wake Forest campus on Wednesday, and sources told ESPN.com that he intends to make a decision in the next 24 hours whether to remain at Tulsa or take over the Demon Deacons program.

Sources told ESPN.com that Manning met with Wake Forest athletic director Ron Wellman in Indianapolis on Monday and was set to go to Winston-Salem on Wednesday. Sources also told ESPN.com that Manning had a meeting with Tulsa officials Tuesday and that the school has put together a strong financial package in an effort to retain the former Kansas star.

Manning would replace Jeff Bzdelik, who was forced to resign after four forgettable seasons at Wake Forest. He was 51-76 overall, 17-51 in ACC play.

Manning, 47, was the No. 1 overall pick of the 1988 NBA draft. He played 15 seasons in the league, then joined coach Bill Self's staff at Kansas, where he was an assistant from 2006 to 2012.

He was hired by Tulsa in 2012 and led the Golden Hurricane to a 17-16 mark and an appearance in the CBI despite having lost the team's top two players, Jordan Clarkson and Eric McClellan, to transfers.

Tulsa finished 21-13 this season and tied for first in C-USA with a 13-3 mark. The Golden Hurricane lost to UCLA in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
