ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. (WLS) -- Kids at a northwest suburban basketball camp received a big surprise when Garth Brooks attended Saturday's session.
The country music star hosted the kids camp at Elk Grove High School Saturday afternoon.
The "Teammates for Kids Basketball Pro-Camp" is for underprivileged children in the Chicago area.
Brooks, who works with the foundation, says it teaches kids teamwork and acceptance.
"Mostly, hopefully, what it teaches is guys look around and realize that none of them look alike, and they don't have to," Brooks said. "They're teammates with everybody, in life, in sports, whatever, you take that on with you and if you start that at a young age, try to promote that love between people, that's that it's all about."
The foundation provides scholarships for under privileged children, allowing them attend these camps, which are hosted by some of the biggest names in sports and music.
